Accessibility during Copenhagen Pride Week 2023
Copenhagen Pride must be for the entire LGBTI+ community! We acknowledge that we are not there yet when it comes to accessibility, but we are working towards this goal.
If you have any questions or comments, please write to us at [email protected].
Pride Square
In the following, you will find a description of Pride Square (Rådhuspladsen)
Pride Square is set up on City Hall Square, which has a slightly sloping surface, but is otherwise level. As a new development, the City of Copenhagen has relocated the Thorvald Bindesbøll and Joakim Skovgaard Fountain, Dragespringvandet, so that it is now centrally located in the square with an outer basin measuring 14 metres in diameter.
A tactile paving line runs across the square from Vester Voldgade to H.C. Andersens Boulevard.
From Saturday, August 12 to Wednesday, August 16, we have two stages in the square. The ‘Corner’ stage can be found at the far end of Pride Square, facing H.C. Andersens Boulevard. This intimate stage provides the setting for conversations and performances at eye level with the audience. The Pride Week Stage is located next to the City Hall facing H.C. Andersens Boulevard. On this stage, concerts, dance and shows are presented during the week.
From Thursday August 17 to Saturday August 19, our Show Stage is the venue for three big shows, Youth Night, Drag Night and Pride Show. The stage is located right in front of City Hall.
Food and beverage
On the left side of the City Hall, towards Vester Voldgade, there are a number of food stands and bars.
Toilet facilities
At Pride Square you will find accessible toilets next to the 7-Eleven tent. The remaining toilets are located on Vester Voldgade near the 7-Eleven store.
Wheelchair platform
On August 17-19, we will have a wheelchair platform located by the fenced-in fountain in the middle of the square. The distance from the wheelchair platform to the accessible toilet is approx. 35m.
From August 12-16, we have a designated but not elevated area at the Pride Week Stage for wheelchair users.
The Community Garden: a quiet area
Copenhagen Pride’s new area, the Community Garden, is a quieter and more secluded garden where you can retreat from the party, have a drink from our non-alcoholic bar, meet a wide range of LGBTI+ organisations, and participate in social events. There will also be private space to change clothes if you want to do so. Found by the trees in the far end of City Hall Square.
The Community Garden is also where our Safer Space tent is located and where you can get changed before leaving the site. The Safer Space tent is where our Safer Space team is located if you need to talk to someone.
Step free access, but be aware of cobblestone pavement.
Arriving at the square
Pride Square is a centrally located square and you can arrive by Metro M3 to the City Hall Square. Distance from the metro entrance to the entrance portal is approximately 20 metres.
In addition, buses 11, 250S, and 5C run directly to City Hall Square. Distance from bus stop to entrance portal is approx. 80 metres.
Disabled parking is available behind the City Hall.

Volunteering
We want to welcome everyone as a volunteer for Copenhagen Pride. However, there are certain situations where we do not have the resources to provide the necessary care. Our volunteer managers cannot assist with visiting the toilet or adjusting medical equipment. If you need this during your shift, we ask that you are accompanied by a helper. Send an email to [email protected] to coordinate.
