Are you our new Communications Coordinator?

About Copenhagen Pride

Copenhagen Pride is a volunteer-led community organisation that organises events focused on LGBTI+ human rights, politics, social inclusion, culture, performance and free expression and assembly. We are part of a global movement of more than 2,000 Pride organisations worldwide.

Our best known events are Copenhagen Pride week each August and Winter Pride each February, but we organise events throughout the year. We are approaching our thirtieth anniversary in 2026 and today we are known throughout the world for our events, including WorldPride in 2021. We’re proud to deliver an event that Forbes magazine described as ‘iconic’.

Our team

It’s the job of our small Secretariat team to deliver to the strategy set by Copenhagen Pride’s board, and to support our team of Area Managers, all of whom are volunteers. The team includes the Head of Secretariat, Event & Production Manager, Production Coordinator, Event & Communications Intern and our Partnerships Specialists.

We work out of the Copenhagen Pride office at Farvergade which is often a hive of activity all year round. We are a friendly, relaxed workplace with a great coffee machine and a drive and determination to get things done.

About the Communications Coordinator

The Board together with our agency partner and Head of Secretariat agree on our communications strategy and workplan, and the Communications Coordinator is responsible for execution of these plans.

As the front line of our communications and often the first point of contact for the media and public, the Communications Coordinator holds a key role within Copenhagen Pride all year round. It is a highly pressured role that is sometimes unpredictable and often demanding but one that is extremely rewarding.

Job description

The Communications Coordinator’s tasks are in four key areas: media relations, social media, website, and event live communications. Tasks are as follows:

  1. Working with our agency partner HAVE Kommunikation you will be the front line in the daily management of our reactive media relations. This includes taking calls and emails from journalists, negotiating access, and writing press releases and briefings.
  2. You’ll also be responsible for our proactive media relations, pitching stories to print, online, radio and tv, also in liaison with HAVE Kommunikation.
  3. You will regularly be asked to write short- and long-form articles for publication in Danish and English, often on behalf of the organisation or a colleague.
  4. Plan and schedule posts on all Copenhagen Pride social media channels according to the content plan.
  5. Respond to comments and messages in a timely manner.
  6. Manage content on the Copenhagen Pride website, including adding new content and editing existing content.
  7. During Copenhagen Pride events – principally Winter Pride in February and Pride in August but with other events throughout the year – leading and managing all Copenhagen Pride communications.
  8. You’ll manage our paid and volunteer photographers and videographers, and our media library on Canto.
  9. Helping to recruit, train and lead volunteers to support communications activities, especially during our event live periods.
