Remarkable: 20 years of Riga Pride

When the first Prides took place in Riga, protestors threw bags of excrement at the Pride marchers, and thousands of riot police stood guard. As we approach the 20th anniversary of the first Riga Pride, we reflect on the extraordinary progress, including EuroPride in 2015 and political shifts that led last year to Latvia electing an openly gay man as the country’s President.
